The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) has opened both the Watford City ND 23 Southeast Truck Bypass and the US 85 Southwest Truck Bypass to traffic. Both bypasses accommodate four lanes of traffic, with turning lanes.

Watford City Bypass Projects:

• The Watford City ND 23 Southeast Bypass project connects ND Highway 23 to the east of Watford City to US 85 south of Watford City.
• The Watford City US 85 Southwest Bypass west of Watford City connects to US Highway 85 southwest of the city.

Signage is posted directing motorists who wish to travel into Watford City on Business Route 85.
